Blogmas Day 9 2018

I missed a few days huh? Sorry! I got a little busy with going back to work after being on vacation. I've got to get back into the swing of things.

Plus, I haven't really had much to talk about. Sorry!

I might take a couple of days to regroup and come up with some topics of conversation to post for Blogmas as I don't always have an exciting "topic of the day" as I like to call it.

Hmm...

Until next time...

Blogmas Day 5 2018

Have you ever noticed how a freshly made bed just makes your room feel fresh, neat, they & just overall clean?

It's bad because my husband has been telling me this for YEARS.

We've been together 15 years, married for 5 now. Bless the boy! He's lived that long with me not making the bed. 😒

He always kept his bed made at his parents house. Not because he was required to but because he chose to keep it made.

I'm trying to turn over a new leaf, per se.

What about y'all? Do you make your bed?

Blogmas Day 4 2018

In continuation of the previous post about working in retail, today, I went shopping with an old friend from high school. With it being a Tuesday, it wasn't too bad but still, there were quite a few people out doing their own holiday shopping I'm sure.

This got me thinking...

How many of us are "last minute" shoppers? How many of us are strictly online shoppers? How many of us are, what I like to call, hybrid shoppers? (Meaning you do a mix of online/in-store shopping for the holidays.)

Me, personally, I am a hybrid shopper but lean more towards strictly online shopping. Just because it is so much easier. You don't have to fight the craziness of in-store shoppers because as we clearly discussed in the previous post, people are RUDE and very inconsiderate of others these days.

I live in a small town in Alabama so the closest shopping malls are 45 minutes to an hour away. It just makes it easier to do your shopping online and when you factor in the time and gas money, it comes out either cheaper or just the same as in-store shopping. The only down fall is if you are an last minute shopper, you can't really wait to do your shopping online due to shipping, etc. (Unless you're willing to pay the price for faster shipping.)

So, what are you? Give that some thought. Hit the comment button below and let me know!

Until next time...

Blogmas Day 3: 2018

Let's talk retail.

If you work in retail, you already know the holiday struggle. THE RETAIL STRUGGLE IS REAL, YA'LL.

Is it just me or, does it seem as if people in general just become so much more terrible during the holiday season? It seems as though they keep all their anger and frustration pent up and then feel as if it is their right and duty to release it during the holidays. I am employeed at a convenience store chain so, I endure this quite often throughout the year but even more so during the holiday season.

I mean, I whole-heartedly believe that everyone; and I mean everyone, should have to work in retail for at minimum 18 months in order to firmly endure the holiday season and really get a feel for what retail workers go through on a day-to-day basis. I think everyone would be more patient and understanding if they experienced life on the other side of that counter just once in their life. If you have been lucky enough to NOT ever have to work in retail in your life, bless you.

If you currently work in retail or have recently started a job in a retail establishment, may the odds be forever in your favor.

Until next time...

Blogmas Day 2 2018:

I missed Blogmas Day 1 because I was so busy catching up on other things. We put our Christmas tree up last night like we usually try to do on or around December 1st.

It got me thinking about Christmas traditions.

Putting our tree up on or around December 1st is about the only Christmas tradition we currently have and, even it isn't set in stone. My family was never really big on Christmas traditions (or any holiday traditions for that matter) so, I didn't come into our marriage with a big sense of tradition. My husband & I have been together 15 years and I have yet to see any concrete holiday traditions in his family either. We also don't have kids so, we haven't been able to create any "kid-type" holiday traditions.

So, what are some of your holiday traditions? I'd love to hear them. Hit the comment button and let me know!

Budgeting: December 2018 Budget Spreadsheet

Hey everyone,
I've been using the spreadsheet below ALL year long to budget. It has actually helped me to stay on track in order to save money and pay off debt. Since the beginning of the year, my husband & I have managed to pay off 2 credit cards.

Hopefully, this post is the beginning of a budgeting series aimed at paying off our debt.

As you can see, we are lucky enough to NOT have a TON of debt. All together, we are a little over $20,000 in debt. My husband & I are in our early 30's and have been lucky enough to make most of the right decisions regarding our finances.

So, if you're interested in following our journey...WELCOME!

Until next time...

Plant Therapy: Lavender & Lemon Essential Oil

During the holiday season, Plant Therapy has a 25 Day of Christmas sale. What this consists of is, each day, beginning on the 26th of November of this year, they have special sales and discounts.

Well, I purchased their Deal of the Day on November 28th which was a FREE 10mL Undiluted Lemon essential oil When you buy a 10mL undiluted Lavender essential oil. I purchased the Lavender 10mL bottle for $7.49 and received the Lemon 10mL FREE with their coupon code. Shipping was FREE!!

First off, I am new to essential oils however, I did research before going with Plant Therapy. I found that Plant Therapy was by far the best bang for your buck. Especially the 25 Day of Christmas deals.

Shipping was extremely quick. I placed my order on November 28th and received it today, December 1st.

The Lavender smelled wonderful. I have a Gurunanda Lavender that came with my diffuser but PT Lavender smells SO much more potent & fragrant. Just the sniff & inhale seemed to help me relax a bit. (My mom says that's all in my head though.) I have yet to diffuse it because I want to use up the Gurunanda first.

The Lemon essential oil actually smelled like a freshly squeezed Lemon. I wasn't surprised because most lemon scented things are very potent. I will probably diffuse this later today.
(After diffusing the Lemon, I found it is in fact VERY fragrant!)

If you are interested in essential oils, I would definitely recommend Plant Therapy as a place to start. They also have a blog where they post really interesting and helpful articles so, check that out!
